Acknowledging what’s right in those who are wrong
Social media is giving us all a more personal connection, but it’s also making us take opposing opinions a lot more personally.
You can roast, grind & brew posh coffee daily, but it doesn’t mean the existence of instant is offensive or degrading to coffee.
People have the right to choose for themselves between options. It’s arrogant to assume your way is the only way.
That’s the thing that blows me away about religion, politics, hobbies, passions etc — the people who are fully ingrained, can’t appreciate those “beneath” them, working themselves into the fold.
Every opinion has its place… Even if it’s wrong.
In my view, the best place to be is in the middle. You remember what it was like to not know, so you sympathise and enjoy educating complete beginners — but you’re not arrogant enough to think you have nothing to learn. So you stay humble, naturally.
It’s not about being on the fence, it’s about appreciating both sides of it, even if they’re wrong.
