Can you Apply the 80/20 Rule to Your Spending Too?
People hesitate to spend more on the things they need

When I was a kid, my mother used to go shopping in 3 different supermarkets every single Saturday. It would take her all day to shop, but her goal was to save money by attending the supermarkets that had the cheapest produce in each specific category. Those being frozen goods, fresh fruits and vegetables and household items like detergent.
I often thought about how much she was spending on fuel, driving between supermarkets to save on produce. Did that fuel cost surpass her savings?
Fast-forward to today when I see a video-editor online, asking if he should spend $49 on the software he always uses, or if anyone knows of a cheaper alternative.
My answer would be if you need it (not want it), then the small cost is negligible. The time you spend shopping around to save such a low amount of money on something you need to work — and are used to using, won’t ever make up for your lost time and productivity.
You need to 80/20 your spending too. Don’t worry about the 20% of cost that brings you 80% of your survival.
