This One Simple CHANGE I Made Will Revolutionise Your Personal Interactions

When did the truth become so fluid?

Humans lie every day.

According to a study conducted by University of Massachusetts psychologist Robert S. Feldman, found that 60 percent of people lied at least once during a 10-minute conversation and told an average of two to three lies.

What if I told you that one simple change could free you from the burden of deceit?

You can still tell tiny white lies, or choose not to answer a question where the answer won’t be appreciated.

But you can never lie to a direct question ever again.

“In times of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act” — George Orwell

THE DAY I STOPPED LYING… Kinda

10 years ago I saw Ricky Gervais giving an interview on his upcoming movie – The Invention Of Lying.

In that interview he said how amazing it would be if we all told the truth, all of the time. That was his inspiration for the movie.

An impossible feat.

Years later he would go on to create ‘After Life’. A drama about a man who was ruthlessly truthful with everyone, as he has nothing to lose.

“It’s like a super-power” says Gervais.

After viewing that original interview around a decade ago, I decided from that day forward, no matter how embarrassing it could be for me…

I would/will never lie to a direct question ever again.

(Feel Free to test me in the responses)

Direct meaning someone asking me directly for my honest answer and not a flippant or rhetorical question like: “You didn’t eat all of that cheesecake did you?”

You fucking know I did.

Those who know me well know that a question is always followed by a question.

“What do you think, Geraint?” They say.

“Do you want my honest answer?” I reply.

The reason being, most people aren’t really looking for your opinion. They’re simply looking for you to agree with theirs.

The concept of truth is impolite, if it happens to conflict with someone else’s views.

Have you heard the term “my truth” being thrown around lately? It’s a get-out-of-jail-free card for liars or those who’s perception clashes with facts.

There’s no such thing as ‘my truth’ — just the truth… and it’s time we all start telling it.

My challenge to you readers is this; NEVER lie to a direct question ever again. No matter how embarrassing the answer can be… and see how freeing it really is.
