Can it ever be equal?
Who has power over society? Politicians? Corporations? Criminal enterprises?
As wealth distribution continues to become more imbalanced and racial tensions heighten, society as a whole starts to look for someone to blame. We are riding down the bell curve of civilization, towards our more tribal beginnings.
The people that decide where our taxes are spent aren’t always pure of heart, big businesses don’t always have an environmental conscience and criminal enterprises get away with murder — sometimes literally.
It begs the question, will there ever be an equilibrium or balance of power?
In my view, power will always be imbalanced because it attracts the kind of people who would kill for more of it.
This makes those in charge, very hard to trust — because you don’t choose a life of absolute power without the desire for imbalance.
By definition, to have power in society, you need others to have less.
