How your word is your only true currency
If you say you’re going to be somewhere, or you commit to something, you better show up. No questions asked.
The only real excuses should be bereavement, incapacitation or legitimately being out of the country.
It’s so easy to snooze the alarm and write-off the plans as “probably not worth it anyway” — but if you aren’t prepared to make the effort for other people, you can’t expect those people to make the effort for you in future.
In the past, you may have used the idiom “I’m a man/woman of my word.”
To some, your word is as good as currency.
If you break your word, you’re making a powerful statement about your trust and reliability.
“Your word is your most valuable asset. Even when you’ve lost all of your material possessions and have nothing left, it’s something nobody can take away from you.” — Peter Turner
Stop living life with a perpetual ‘rain check’ and start keeping to your word.
