You Probably Work With a Sociopath
Sociopaths are on the rise — and chances are you probably work with one
Sociopaths are on the rise — and chances are you probably work with one
According to the American Psychiatric Association:
1 in 20 Men is a Sociopath.
1 in 50 Women is a Sociopath.
That’s about 4% of the population, or 1 in every 25 people you know.
Given that 80% of businesses that people work for have over 20 employees, you probably work with a Sociopath.
Now there’s a big misunderstanding with what a Sociopath is. Not to be confused with Psychopath, it’s said that a Psychopath is born, but a Sociopath is made.
Some symptoms of Sociopathy or ASPD (Anti-social personality disorder) include:
Grandiose sense of self
Manipulation
Pathological lying
Lack of remorse, shame or guilt
Lack of realistic life plan
Incapacity for empathy
Has an emotional need to justify their crimes and therefore needs their victim’s affirmation (respect, gratitude and love)
Reading those symptoms and thinking about your friends, family or colleagues, you realise it’s not a question of ‘if’, it’s a question of ‘who’.
